Stand Down

Traditionally held in Summer and at Christmas, Stand Down is the very heart of what Base Camp Lindsey is about, helping those in need.  During Stand Down we collect donations of hygiene items, ready to eat foods, clothing, coats, shoes and anything else that could be needed by someone living on the streets.  On this one day we provide a hot nutritious meal and distribute the donations that have been collected.  We invite local agencies to be on hand to talk to those who need them.  We also invite professionals to give shaves and haircuts to our guests.  During Stand Down we see old friends and new faces, reaching at least 75 people each event.

Base Camp Lindsey Veterans Gala

Base Camp Lindsey Veterans Gala is a  Black tie formal event hosted at the Kemp Center for the Arts. An evening of elegance with great food, a silent auction, Wine Pull, and entertaining speakers awaits attendees at the Gala. All funds raised at the event help us #endVeteranhomelessness in North Texas.

Zombiepalooza

Zombiepalooza is a Halloween-themed car and motorcycle show in Mid-October.  Lots of fun categories, costume contest, vendor booths, a week long scavenger hunt, and our newest part of the event–a haunted trail!  Lots of family fun but also special activities for those hearty souls who enjoy being terrorized all in the name of supporting Base Camp Lindsey.

Give a Ruck

Give A Ruck is an annual endurance event that involves the basics of military culture:  marching with a heavy backpack(ruck sack)!  This event includes 1,5, and 10 mile distances and is intended to honor our Veterans by giving participants a chance to march in the place of a Veteran in their own lives.  The backpacks are weighted with supplies for the homeless and can included food, hygiene items or other necessary items for the homeless.  There are trophies for individual and team categories for those who choose to compete.  This event will be on the third Saturday of May each year.

VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED FOR EACH OF THESE VENUES. See our volunteer page to sign up.
